A light smattering of snow and the countryside is transformed, disguising the drab winter colours under a frosty mantle. A short morning walk in the bright sunshine revealed a world of strong shadows with the snow defining shapes and accentuating outlines. And amidst it all, the first signs of spring - the soft green of primrose leaves peeking out beneath the snowy crystals....
